Wire & Wool
Created 2020
Pandemic and quarantine shifted focus away from the comfort of wool to incorporating new and harder materials. Wire weaving allowed my hands the rhythm of repetitive making, and the swiftness of empty forms. Considering the shift in time perception and the ideas of containment, I created “Tiny Trappings” and “Containment” series, utilizing wool elements I had made previously.
Containment 1 Wire, hand-dyed wool locks 10.5" x 9" x 6" 2020
Containment 2 Wire, hand-dyed wool locks 5.5" x 8" x 8.5" 2020
Gravitas Wire, wool, silk, resin, paint 56" x 38" x 9" 2020
Quarantine Time 1 Wire, hand-dyed wool 7.25" x 4.25" x 4.74" 2020
Quarantine Time 2 Wire, hand-dyed wool 8" x 4.5" x 5" 2020
Tiny Trappings 1 Wire, hand-dyed wool 8.5" x 4" x 4" 2020
Tiny Trappings 2 Wire, hand-dyed wool 4" x 5" x 4" 2020
Tiny Trappings 3 Wire, hand-dyed wool 5.5" x 2.5" x 2.5" 2020
